Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to questions we get asked very frequently. You might find the answer to your question here.

Can I bring my own quad bike to WildTracks?

You can on certain days. On Saturdays and Sundays they can be used on the auto circuit only. Mondays to Fridays they can be used on our trek routes or on the flat grass area behind our offices. Which you use depends or your capabilities. If we have private parties or corporate events taking place these areas may not be available. Always ring us on 01638 751918 to check before setting out.

Are the Motocross tracks open during the week?

Due to maintenance our tracks are not open during the week. Open practice is available most weekends, subject to weather conditions. Please ring before you leave to make sure the tracks are open.

What days are the Motocross Try Out School available?

Saturdays only. To check availability or book a place, please ring Geoff Mayes on 07885 731713.

How old do you have to be to do Motocross?

For our Try Out School, riders as young as 7 years can take part. On Practice Days, as long as you have your own equipment there is no lower limit. The smaller Kennett circuit is available for juniors/novices but if it gets crowded and the Try Out School is taking place on it, then the instructor has the final decision regarding safety of numbers.

Can all ages go Quad Bike Trekking?

On Adventure Days the minimum age for trekking is 16 years. There are two dedicated flat grass tracks for those younger than 16. For private parties and pre-booked tuition outings youngsters can join the treks, as we have a higher ratio of instructors to riders. The main constraint is the size and strength of the rider. If instructors feel a rider cannot cope with the demands they will keep to easier ground.

How old do you have to be to drive a kart?

As a general guide 13/14 years is OK but a big strong 12 year old would not have a problem. The main consideration is height. We have booster seats and adjustable pedals but if these are not sufficient then that driver would not be safe.

Are there any hotels or B&Bs nearby?

Yes, there are several hotels in and around Newmarket and Cambridge. We can send you a list, or click onto our Links page.

Is the café open during the week?

Food and snacks are only available from WildSnacks on Saturdays and Sundays. Catering for private parties and corporate events can be arranged but only by prior booking. There are pubs nearby to visit after your event and a good transport café in Red Lodge for a hearty breakfast before you arrive.

Can we camp on site?

Yes you can by prior arrangement. The charge is £5 per night per unit. We have chemical toilet emptying points, drinking water and toilets but no showers.

Can I just turn up and do something?

The only activity that does not need to be booked in advance is Karting. We run 15 or 30 minute sessions in our own karts. All other activities have to be pre-booked. It is always best to phone before you leave to check there isn't an event on that will be using the kart circuit. Our Adventure Days, held on the first Sunday of the month, are the best time to come and enjoy yourself without booking ahead.

Can I use my own 4x4?

Yes you can. The only day that is difficult is Adventure Day (the first Sunday in every month) when there are a lot of activities taking place around the site. If you are using your own 4x4 make sure you bring your mobile so you can call us if you get yourself bogged down!

Can I have a 4x4 lesson in my own vehicle?

Yes you can. A 90 minute one-to-one lesson can be taken in your own vehicle. Like most of the activities you need to book in advance.

Do you supply overalls?

We supply clothing for private parties and corporate events and overalls for all karting. If you are just doing, say, an hour's quad trekking, then you are expected to provide your own clothing. Stout shoes and waterproof clothes are recommended. Bring a change of clothes to use after the event as you may get very muddy or wet on a quad bike.

What activities are there for the very young?

There are swings, slide and rope-run for all youngsters. Rides, on Adventure Days, can be taken on 4x4s and the Hagglund military vehicle. Junior quads, on dedicated flat grass circuits, and motocross are available for 7 year olds and upwards. However, the very nature of offroad activities means we operate mostly “big boys’ toys”!

Do I need a driving licence?

To drive the Hagglund or a 4x4 you need to be a licence holder. We can arrange tuition lessons for people who are near to getting their licence and have some driving experience but this needs to be agreed before booking.

Can I do an evening event?

Sadly, we are governed by the length of daylight. In summer we can run events up to about 8 or 9 pm. In the winter we recommend that any event is arranged to finish by about 3.30 in the afternoon.
